We are two days into 2018, and chances are by now you’ve already written those personal New Year’s Resolutions. You may have written them, but are you achieving them or are you already slacking? You know how to write a New Year’s Resolution that actually works, but achieving those goals is a whole different ballgame. Here are a few tips to help you live up to your Resolutions and achieve your goals.
Tips to Accomplish Those New Year’s Resolution Goals
Focus on the “why”
We all write New Year’s Resolutions for specific reasons. We want to be healthier so our Resolution may be to go to the gym or cut back on sodas. When the Resolution gets tough, and you’re craving that soda, think about the reason you made that Resolution – to get healthier – and focus on that. Apply this same reasoning to all your Resolutions, no matter how tough it gets.
Start small
Don’t start the new year expecting to achieve your New Year’s Resolution. Start small, with small changes, and it will be easier to make the big change over time. For example, if you want to become a vegan, don’t just cut off all your meat intake at once. Reduce your meat consumption throughout several meals per week and increase that over time.
Be Accountable
At the end of the day, no one is going to hold you to your New Year’s Resolutions except yourself. You are with you all year long, and you will know when you are working towards your goals and when are not. Hold yourself accountable throughout the year, rewarding yourself for achieving goals and acknowledging the consequences of not reaching them.
Achieving your New Year’s Resolutions doesn’t have to be hard. All it takes is consistency. Put one foot in front of the other and work a little bit every day towards those big goals. Believe in yourself, and you will make it happen. And if you fail today, try again tomorrow. Good luck in the New Year!
